I know I need to post and

August 26, 2014

feel bad because I haven’t.

I love to write and post images of either my captures from my camera or a new painting I’m working on.  Lately I get so wrapped up in just painting or editing that I don’t have the time to, or the energy either.  Life gets busy and wonderful and quite lovely and it’s hard to write about art when you are just busy living it:

so random images ahead:

A brand new customer came to Etsy and found a watercolor tree of mine that she loved. She asked me more about sizes and prices and we came together on a custom original  12×16 with a 1″ border for $65. plus shipping.  She loved it so much that she sent me a picture and I just adore seeing it framed up, don’t you?

This incredible female fox was living with her 3 (that I counted) little cubs next to a road a friend lives on.  This was taken through a fence, she is not fenced in at all.  It was the only way I could capture her with my little Sony.  Isn’t she amazingly beautiful?

Told you it would be random

I adore flowers, I always ALWAYS have.  I paint them, I notice them, I want to crawl into them,  I love the fragrances of them, the colors of them.  I just Adore Flowers

'this is what I woke up too'

‘this is what I woke up too’

I bought this daylily blooming last summer and set around my yard for a few days.  You know to get the feel of where it wants to be.  Always somewhere I can see from one of my windows (Preferably the long, floor to ceiling Pella south-east window). And the light through it as the sun was setting told me that this was the spot.  And this is the morning light through here in these shots.

Walking Onions

Do you or have you ever seen these?  They are just so lovely and elegant.

These are the beautiful seeds/babies of these winding, curvy bright green onions.  They are like big hollow chives but way cooler.  I have some other photos of these I’ll have to dig out.

I’m not positive what these are called but I love them.  They always remind me of a dear friend I use to know. Her name is Chris and we met in a watercolour painting class together back in 1984.  We use to go draw and paint together.  Fast friends right from the start and we both knew it instantly.  (Chris B I hope you are reading this and know it’s me).

BeLoved HollyHocks

For some reason in my early 20’s I didn’t think I liked hollyhocks, have no real recollection of why-not.  anyway…. I so love mine.  I’ve been trying for years to grow these wonderful graceful, bright, beautiful flowers.  I’ve have finally succeeded with this amazing bright pink one.

Blue Mist love bush

I never knew about this bush until I came to New Mexico and I went on a tile job with my honey.  This client of Len’s had these hugh glowing purple bushes in the middle of the summer growing all over his property.  And I feel in love again (seems I love lots of flowers)  Hummingbirds were everywhere all over it.

My girlfriend Peggy sold me this one when she ran the Garden Center in Taos.  She knows so much and just amazes me with all the info she has about flowers, plants and design stored in her wonderful brain.

Friday Finds – unexpected gifts

July 12, 2013

I walk down along the river with my honey alot and every time I search for new things to photograph.  One can only take so many pictures of river shots and water, canyon walls and empty trails.  So I search out the birds and the butterflys and anything else that catches my eye or moves in that case.

I was looking for butterflys dancing around, but this year seems to be void of them. I catch a far off glimpse of a yellow swallowtail (at least I think thats what it is) ,  but nothing close enough to get good shots of.  I was headed back to the car, kinda lollygaging and I was running my hand over the tops  of this clover field I was walking along.   Deep purple, almost black clover, spring bright, pretty purple clover and soft, sweet, pale white clover that the butterflys go crazy for. I was so enjoying the sweet smell in the air and feeling the tops of the flowers brushing my hand… I realized that this was my unexpected gift.  I turned back to shoot not knowing if I could capture the essence of a whole patch of clover or not, but I enjoyed it so that I  just had to try.

white water flowers in watercolor

January 20, 2013

Last summer on one of our fishing forays out into the surrounding country-side we headed north up towards Costilla, New Mexico.  This is a wonderful drive along the western side our San de Cristo mountain range. When we come upon the Costilla (rib) turn-off and head due east, straight into the mountains themselves. We follow Costilla Creek in all it’s rich and moist greenness compared to where we live up on a high and dry, piñon covered mesa range of the mountains.  My honey fishes while I photograph anything and everything I think is beautiful.  One little spot next to the creek was so green and cool and smelled so sweet….

I’ve posted this somewhere because I love it so, but for now it inspired my still feeling under the weather brain.

so I doodled and played with three (tres) which turned into four (quatro) white (blanco) water (aqua) flowers (flores)

Today is/was my Grandmothers birthday.  She always remembered mine because I was born two days before hers.  It was one of our special things that she shared with just me.  I miss Grandma Hogard (my father’s mother).
