Winter Mountain Sunrise watercolour by CheyAnne Sexton

I have been painting everyday for this challenge and have quite a few to catch up with on here.

3rd watercolour – Raspberry Hummingbird w/ Chris B.

January 3, 2015

for the January 30in30 Challenge:

I have been learning quite a bit from this experience already,

1st:  don’t get hung up in the details

and….

2nd:  if what you ‘thought’ you were going to paint that day

is not what you ‘want’ to paint that day……..

Then………Paint What You WANT to paint that day.!    hands down

This watercolor here today is really special to me, first,

this is my FIRST hummingbird EVER in WaterColour.  I have loved these little magical creatures since my first trip to the Rocky Mountains, way back on a trip to Colorado from the Missouri mid-west when I was 17.  wow are they incredible or what?

And second because the flower part of this painting was created back in 1984, the year of my daughters birth and an incredible friendship that blossomed instantly that year as well.  My husband at the time bought me a workshop in watercolor after our second child was born and a painter, me, was born.  But the really cool part is a woman/sister-of-my-heart/instantaneously became friends and out of that super wonderful friendship we painted and drew together.  amazing stuff, when you are with two babies under two all day, ‘mama-mia’.

And the green leafy part on the bottom and the underpainting of the flowers, I painted in Chris’s house of an evening when I was able to just be me…………………

and now I finished it by adding this little magical chuparosa that visit’s our yard (my honey’s and my yard) where the chupas want their lamacrack (we call it)  They fuss and fight over it and therefore are all around our flowers gardens all summer long.

colors used: Hookers Green, Opera Rose, Sap green, China Crimson, Payne’s Grey,

Thanks for visiting and if you would like to add a comment I would love to hear from you.

propsero ano neuvo/ prosperous year new

Happy New Year

And birds, I love me some birds.  This little guy was inspired by a Field Sparrow that came to our feeders one day.  And only one day, I haven’t seen it since.  Must have been migrating through.

I love, lOVE, Love Photography

November 13, 2013

I’m cleaning out my Mac laptop and am coming across some amazing photos I’ve taken in the past and never showed in public.  Some really blow me away still…..

I love adding quotes and sayings,

sometimes……..just simple words,

and poems too, when I really get them………….

Little baby calves always call to me and this one was a few springs ago.  But sometimes we need spring all year long, don’t cha think?

I call photographs like this one: A Drive-By Photo.

I have so much fun just holding my little Carl Zeiss lens Sony out the window as I’m driving.  Like little instant, fun, unexpected, movies in still-motion Photographs.

love them when I find a gem amongst the fence posts, ugly bushes and road signs (yuck)……..

watercolor cosmos are where I’m at right now

July 13, 2013
'Basket of Summer' watercolor on paper 9x12 CheyAnne Sexton

‘Basket of Summer’ watercolor on paper 9×12 CheyAnne Sexton

This was my first attempt without drawing it out first. Plein air painting from my easy chair looking out into my garden.  I did lay down some misket (I love that stuff).  And my kinda first attempt at multi-petaled flowers too.  Not so sure how to go about them.  I really like a few of them tho, especially the one on the bottom right and how it’s hanging in the air.   At least that’s how it looks me.

I went to youtube to do some research  and found a great 2 part video that inspired me to finish when I got stuck.

Painting Flowers Loosely in watercolour part 2 of 2 by Peter Wood

I watched the number 2 part of this first and then went looking for number one.  I love how he adds dabs and dabs of little bits of color to create depth  and vibrance to his painting.  And what an undertaking to paint such a garden as this.  I want to try this now.

Here is my second much freer attempt:

'White cosmos over Orange' watercolor on paper 9x12 CheyAnne Sexton

‘White cosmos over Orange’ watercolor on paper 9×12 CheyAnne Sexton

This one I didn’t draw or even add misket too,  which I am pretty proud of.  I just started at the top and worked my way down.  When white of the paper was there I created another flower or a bud.  Now I’m off to try more.

Both originals are for sale and giclee prints upon request.  If you click the picture it ought to take you straight to my Etsy store where you can purchase them.  Let me know you found it here and I will pay for shipping.

Love hearing what you think or feel so please leave a comment.

Peace n Abundance,

CheyAnne
