A new watercolor in progress

August 18, 2015

My newest and latest beauty.

My latest and greatest watercolor of a little chuparosa dancing over some gorgeous Echinacea. This is stage 4 with many more to go

3rd phase of new work in progress

3rd phase of new work in progress

This was the 3rd phase.  First being the thought and sketching, the choice of colors and paper and what I want to create.  I remember from college that my professor had us think clearly about what we wanted to do.  Even write it down.  I don’t do that very often, but it came back to me wanting to take this one slow and do it for me.

I want to create the gorgeous morning light that lit up these Echinacea flowers of purple, pink and bright glowing orange with a little wispy female chuparosa dancing across her stage.

this is where the idea started.  I love the stage of bright orange heads on these wonderful pinks and purples.

And I adore the background colors and feel in this one.  And this will be the little chupa I’m going to put in my painting.  Right now she is covered in the green misket and it will be very exciting when I get to the point where I can start to paint her.

I’ll keep you posted.

I’m also posting on my FaceBook pages

Watercolour Alert ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧●

April 21, 2014

I fianlly, actually got inspired to paint again and this time by one of my own photographs too:

I did paint my favorite photograph (probably of all time) of my little Pigmy Nuthatch on Yupo paper:

( click the image and it will take you to my Etsy shop)

September last year. But I really wanted to paint one of my birds on watercolor paper, there is a difference for sure.

I loved this image of a little Song Sparrow I took the other morning down on the rio   ‘Song Sparrow tangled in Pink’

The true painting will emerge when my studio guy does his magic and captures my painting in all it’s nuisances of color and hue.

This photo is from the first image after I started.  I forget to capture the different stages that I create, sorry……

you can really see the misket here, it’s the dull brownish lines.  I think this is one of the funnest parts of watercolour for me, is using misket.  Sometimes I really start to like what’s happening as I paint around it and with it, so when I take it off, I have to re-see the piece with fresh eyes.  But when I take it off it feels like Christmas to me.  I really, really love that part.

It has felt so good to paint again.  To have the time and the space and the freedom to take this time, to get back to my bliss.

Two Yupo watercolours and our coyote

February 10, 2013

It’s been another long week because I’ve had a new crud this week.  I’ll tell you, I Am Sick of being Sick.  I am well now and Will Stay that way (I tell myself over and over). I painted this weekend and it feels so good.  First I’m finishing my ballerina “Flooded in Light” and will soon take photos and post her for sale.  Then I pulled out some Yupo paper I still have and traced a few of my favorite sketches.  This one

Under the Milky Way

Under the Milky Way

this was a combo of a few sketches put together and I really had no idea where it would go, but that’s the beauty of Yupo paper.  When you don’t like it you can wipe it down and start again.  The marker lines stay, but I always kinda like my lines in pieces and always debate whether to erase them or not.   How do you handle that?

This image is taken propped up on the window,

This other piece is a favortie sketch of mine and after looking at the painting thur being photographed I think I want to start over on this one and even change the initial sketch a bit.

"July"

“July”

"July in Rachael's lap"

“July in Rachael’s lap”

the whole bottom leg thing bothers me.  I need to bring her pink shorts straight out and give her a bit of a calf where the kitten is lying.  don’t you think?

And I saw our little female coyote again this week. As I went to take the trash out I saw just her back through the meadow so I snuck back in real quick, grabbed my camera and as quietly as I could got back out side.  I made it to the top of the drive way knowing she would cross somewhere close enough to capture her.  Little did I know she would walk right towards me

she turned up the drive

unfortunately I shake a bit too much with my longer lens.

If you notice her ear is always cocked towards me because she could hear me the whole time and this last time she looked right at me

'before she faded away'

‘before she faded away’

I can’t add any of these to my Etsy site because they just aren’t clear enough.

This is the reason I am putting out to the universe that I could really use a camera with image stabilization and a higher quality, bigger lens……

Hope your week was happy and healthy and the next one is even better.

peace n abundance,

CheyAnne

UltraMarine Peacock of Blue watercolor painting

January 12, 2013

My newest painting.  I was so so sick this past week and all I did was sleep.  I had to go back to work on Friday and that kicked my butt in gear.  I have to stop being sick and get on with painting.  I have 2013 goals.  Haven’t written them down or anything, but I know what they are and the 1st one is easy:

Paint MORE:

little, big, hughe, it really doesn’t matter, just paint….so I am

I feel in love with this brilliant male peacock the very instant I saw him and asked Greg Prelich’s permission.

and I can’t wait to do more tomorrow.  I think I will add more misket at this point to give it a more interesting dynamic and try to produce the feel of foreshortening.  Sometimes that can get me, but we’ll see.  It will be beautiful what ever I do, just because I love what I do when I’m doing this.  My honey says I get in ‘the zone’.

I think he is right,

peace n abundance,

CheyAnne
