two black and blue magpies nesting in a tree

I posted this last spring while we still lived down the road and now that we are in Lama full time I miss these loud beautiful birds.  We do have them here but not as often because we don’t have the open fields they prefer.

last spring in the beautiful tree next door, a pair of magpies were making a new nest

I burned/dodged the tail area to make it stand out

I loved the photos. I’ve never seen or heard a magpie that I know of – time for a little “bird research”!

I don’t remember them in Missouri growing up, but they are everywhere in Colorado and here in New Mexico as well. they love fields and they eat carrion from the sides of roads. Thanks for the visit. Have you had a chance to make a comment on the feedback over at etsy? If not, no big deal. Have a wonderful day it’s always good to hear from you

you failed to mention that a magpie will build in hawthorn trees and puts a roof over its nest & will return to it each year

I would love to hear from you, thanks. I also really enjoy knowing how you came across my little piece of this world wide web we live in...
