wheat grass….yeah !!!!!

beautiful bubbles of light

beautiful bubbles of light

This morning we juiced our first clippings of wheat grass and added it to our regular protein juice drink before the gym, and wow it gave us a lot of energy. We really missed having it this winter.

It’s really quite simple to grow:

one gardeners flat or two for sturdiness

1¾ cup  wheat grass seed, soaked for 24 hrs in H2O (which is also beneficial in itself)(the leftover water that is)

wheat grass soaking in a mason jar

brown paper grocery bag, double thickness cut to fit inside of  flat

good soil, preferably organic, remember your going to juice this

and a nice sunny windowsill

Put about two inches of moist (not wet) soil in flat, spread soaked wheat grass evenly out on top. (no soil on top of seed)

Cover this with the two layers of the brown paper presoaked in water

Put in warm dark area

keep evenly moist by keeping the brown bags damp

in about 4 days you’ll see little roots, in one more day you should see little grass stems and you can take the brown paper off.  Keep moist not wet and in about one week when the grass is

I just found this! Where have I been?

I’m not sure I could make myself drink that – it looks awfully green. But I suspect my indoor kitty, Miss Dixie Rose, would love to have some of that wheat grass to munch on. I may grow some, and we’ll both give it a try!
