on an afternoon was we were listening to coast-to-coast

my new Yellow Rose blossom

I love, love, love yellow roses.  When my husband (at the time) and I brought our first son home from the hospital, my yellow rose was blooming and I fell in love with this color.  I really adore the yellow that is tinged with pink on the edges, but it seems a little harder to find.  This is a Knockout from Wal-Mart.  Seems to be doing pretty well with a little rose food and moisture.  So out came my watercolours, just to sketch, not necessarily produce a finished painting.

I’ve always been drawn to computers from the git go.  Back in the early 80′s when Apple’s where making there way into schools and such, I insisted that my husband (at that time) spend his 401k on an Apple Macintosh for our then young children.  And it paid off too. My eldest Jacob, is now a radioman for a fast attack sub in the US Navy, which is all about computers.  My youngest son, Benjamin is now (yeah, finally) going to school for computers up in Washington.  Now just to get my daughter to make the leap.

Anyway……..

So watching a video over on Kim Klassen Cafe yesterday made layers and textures look so easy. I tried it this morning and with my own texture too.

These pictures I took yesterday during a massive, hard hail and rain storm we had here in New Mexico.  We really, really need the moisture.

I think I’ll go try some more.

really love my watercolors, well not everyone I’ve ever painted, but you don’t see those. But I have to say that I am as in love with this single bloom now as the day I painted it many years ago. I still have the original painting, which is a whole bouquet of fuchsia, honeysuckle, pink peonies and yellow tulips. I can’t part with that AT all. So here is a little tease, a little taste of exquisite Love.
