When all else fails, paint a tree

December 2, 2012

I love trees! I remember so many individual ones when I was little, like 6,7,8 and 9.  I lived in Missouri with my single mother of 3.  I was the eldest and I loved to climb trees!  I think maybe to get away from my little brother and sister.  Mike wasn’t too far behind me, but I could always get in trees he couldn’t.

We (the neighborhood kids and I) had this one tree called the ‘Rocket-Ship’ tree.  It had two branches on the bottom that were parallel with each other that was the key to getting into this tree.  I can kind of remember looking up at the older kids and wanted to be up there with them.  I loved the thought of being up in the air and looking down. You had to be tall enough to be able to jump up and grab one of the branches and swing your legs up onto the other limb and squiggle your way up.

That tree holds lots of memories for me and maybe that’s why I paint trees.  I lOVE them.!

I’ve had artist block and just can’t seem to get motivated lately, so today I said “enough,  Paint a Tree” so I did:

Golden globe of honey n bee too

Golden globe of honey for this little bee

I sold three pieces of art this week and love this feeling.  Of knowing the smile they will have when they open your art that they loved so much, that they bought it from you? And now they get to gaze upon it each day and love it like you do? I love that feeling myself….
